The coalition of 34 national trade associations and labor unions is calling on Congress to continue advancing the legislation and keep America building
WASHINGTON — The Transportation Construction Coalition (TCC), the united voice of America’s transportation construction industry, released the following statement today applauding the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for advancing the BUILD America 250 Act out of committee with strong, bipartisan support.
“The strong bipartisan support of the BUILD America 250 Act sends a clear signal to Congress that every state and district stands to benefit from continued investments in the roads, bridges, and transit systems Americans depend on every day.
“This bipartisan bill provides the long-term certainty America’s transportation construction industry needs. It pairs sustained investment in transportation programs with targeted reforms that would move projects from planning to construction more efficiently, ensuring communities can see real results. Critically, the bill strengthens protections for workers in active construction zones that will help ensure our hardworking men and women can get home safely when the job is done.
“America’s transportation construction industry commends Chairman Graves and Ranking Member Larsen for their bipartisan leadership. We encourage the House to move swiftly to pass the BUILD America 250 Act, and work with their Senate colleagues on a timely surface transportation bill that keeps America building.”
Earlier this week, the coalition sent a letter to Chairman Sam Graves (R-Mo.) and Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-Wash.), commending their leadership in advancing a bipartisan, multi-year authorization bill. The legislation includes several of the coalition’s top priorities, including measures that would:
- Maintain current investment levels, while advancing practical project delivery improvements to ensure dollars are efficiently put to use
- Protect workers in construction zones by providing more resources to improve work zone safety and the traveling public’s safety
- Restore fairness in the Highway Trust Fund (HTF) through updated federal user fee structures that support sustainable, long-term revenue streams
The coalition, which represents 34 national trade associations and labor unions across the U.S. transportation construction sector, is encouraging the House to continue advancing the BUILD America 250 Act to ensure long-term funding and planning certainty before current federal surface transportation programs expire on Sept. 30, 2026.
